Easy and delicious Greek gyros made with pork, homemade gyros seasoning, crisp vegetables, pan-fried flatbreads and tzatziki.
We love gyros in our house. It simply tastes wonderful – and it is one of those meals that tastes of sun, summer and holidays.
The meat can be served in whole pieces, but it can also be roughly chopped with a knife once cooked – whichever you prefer.

Method
Tzatziki
- Coarsely grate the cucumber and squeeze out as much liquid as possible.
- Put the grated cucumber in a sieve, season with a little salt – roughly the amount you would add to the dressing – and toss it through with your hands. Leave the cucumber to drain for about 15 min., squeezing out the liquid a few more times along the way.
- Meanwhile, mix the ingredients for the dressing: stir the yoghurt together with the garlic, olive oil, lemon juice and mint. Then fold in the cucumber and season the dressing with a little pepper and more salt if it needs it.
- Chill until ready to serve – and do let it stand for a while, it only gets better.
Greek gyros and sides
- Heat the chips in the oven as directed on the bag.
- Slice the vegetables as you like and set them aside.
- Heat a little oil in a frying pan and fry the meat over a medium heat for a couple of minutes.
- Season with the homemade gyros seasoning and continue frying until the meat is golden and cooked through.
- Just before serving, warm the flatbreads or pitta breads – and your pitta gyros are ready to serve.
- Assemble your pitta gyros with chips, salad, spiced pork and plenty of tzatziki.

Tænker på at købe svinekoteletter og selv skære i tern, men er i tvivl om nakkekoletter er et bedre valg?
Hej Pia
Tror du vil få et saftigere resultat med nakkekoteletter, men begge dele fungerer fint 🙂
Warm wishes, Dianna
Kan man undgå koriander? Eller bruge noget andet i stedet
Hej Gitte
Warm wishes, Dianna
Kan man godt bruge “skinke i tern” til den her ret
Hejsa
Ja det kan du sagtens bruge:)
Warm wishes, Dianna
Hej Dianna,
Jeg går og drømmer lidt om gyros med lam- altså en lammekølle. Men hvordan …. Har du en ide om det ?
Håber det er ok at jeg spørger
Mange hilsner
