Aperol Spritz – a refreshing summer cocktail you can mix together in no time.
The Italian aperitif Aperol has taken the world by storm in recent years, and Denmark is no exception.
As soon as the sun comes out, the streets fill with signs advertising the popular Aperol Spritz.
And I am happily riding that wave, because I LOVE a good Aperol Spritz – ice cold, with plenty of ice cubes and fresh slices of orange.
Aperol Spritz ratio
How you like your Aperol Spritz is very much a matter of taste.
The Aperol Spritz recipe below is based on the 3-2-1 ratio – that is, 3 parts prosecco, 2 parts Aperol and 1 part soda water. That is definitely how I prefer my Aperol Spritz – thirst-quenching and smooth, and not too sharp. And then plenty of ice cubes and orange slices – a must in my Aperol cocktail.
If you prefer it sharper, use a half-and-half ratio instead: half Aperol, half prosecco and just a splash of soda water on top.
Aperol Spritz
Ingredients
- 18 cl prosecco or another light, dry sparkling wine
- 12 cl Aperol
- 6 cl soda water
- 1/2 orange, cut into slices
- ice cubes
Method
- Fill 2 large glasses with ice cubes, and press the orange slices down along the inside of the glasses.
- Pour the prosecco into the glasses first, then add the Aperol and finish with the soda water.Stir gently with a straw or a long spoon if you like, so the ingredients are properly mixed.
- You can also mix your Aperol Spritz in a jug, ready to pour straight over the ice cubes.
- Top your Aperol Spritz with a slice of orange, lemon or a sprig of mint, for example.
