The Maldives – Overview

How many days in the Maldives?

We had 10 nights…

We have booked between 10 and 12 nights on our trips, and that has been just right for us.

Personally, I would find 7 days too short given the relatively long flight – and the fact that you may arrive late on your arrival day and perhaps have to leave early on your departure day. It can easily take 4-5 hours from landing in Malé until you are on the island, checked into your room and so on.

A good example: we landed in Malé at 8.40, but did not actually check into our room until 15.00. The seaplane trip only took 30 minutes – but seaplane transfers are scheduled in advance, so you may well have to wait at the airport. I imagine the same applies if you are travelling on by boat.

We flew with Qatar Airways all the way – Copenhagen-Doha and Doha-Malé. A very good journey, with legs that are definitely manageable. In Doha we had a layover of around 2-2 1/2 hours, which was actually just right for getting off the plane, stretching our legs and making our way to the next gate.

Copenhagen-Doha took around 6-6 1/2 hours and Doha-Malé around 4 1/2 hours. And a small note – switch off data roaming on your phone, both in Doha and in the Maldives. 30 seconds of internet costs a couple of hundred kroner😉 The hotels have WiFi, and it works fine.
