An easy chutney made with plums and spiced with ginger and vanilla. Lovely with a cheese board or on a bread roll in the morning.
I was lucky enough to be given a big bowl of plums by our kind neighbours – and the ones our eldest daughter didn’t manage to eat went into this batch.
You can use any kind of plums, by the way – some may need to cook a little longer if the flesh is very firm.

Method
- Rinse the plums thoroughly and cut them into small dice, discarding the stones.
- Halve the vanilla pod lengthways, scrape out the seeds and mix them with a little of the sugar.
- Put the plums, sugar, ginger, apple cider vinegar, vanilla seeds and the empty vanilla pod in a saucepan.
- Bring to the boil, then simmer over a medium heat for about 15-20 minutes, until the plums are tender and the juices have reduced. The chutney should be neither too thin nor too thick.
- Remove the empty vanilla pod and pour the chutney into a scalded, sterilised jar (rinsed with Atamon, a Danish liquid preservative, if you like), then store in the fridge.

Hej Birgitte
Dit fif er hermed givet videre 🙂
Warm wishes, Dianna
Kan man bruge frosne blommer?
Hej Henriette
Det tænker jeg absolut du kan ja 🙂
Warm wishes, Dianna
Warm wishes, Dianna
Smager himmelsk til ost.
