Greek meatballs cooked in the air fryer – incredibly easy and ready in under 30 minutes.
They are well spiced and juicy, and whether you shape them into flat patties, Danish frikadelle-style, or roll them into round Greek meatballs is entirely up to you.
Greek meatballs simply taste wonderful – the feta and spices pack these little morsels with plenty of flavour, and they are very easy to make.
The recipe also calls for very few ingredients, and cooking them in the air fryer makes them quick and simple to prepare – with no mess on the hob.
In general, I am just very fond of my air fryer. It cooks to perfection every time, and the food looks after itself while it cooks. It also saves a great deal of washing-up, not to mention cleaning – especially when it replaces frying in a pan with fat spattering all over the kitchen 😉
Greek Meatballs in the Air Fryer
Ingredients
- 500 g beef mince
- 50 g feta
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, grated or crushed
- 1/2 red chilli, deseeded and finely chopped – or 1/2 tsp chilli flakes
- 1 handful flat-leaf parsley, finely chopped
- 1 egg
- 2 tbsp dried breadcrumbs
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1/2 tsp ground cumin
- 1/2 tsp ground coriander
- 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
- Salt and pepper
- Cooking spray or oil*
Method
- Mix the mince with the onion, garlic, chilli, parsley, egg, spices, breadcrumbs and crumbled feta.
- Season with salt and pepper and, if time allows, leave the mixture to rest for a quarter of an hour or so.
- Shape the mixture into round meatballs or flat patties of about 35 g each.
- Place them in the basket of your air fryer and give them a light coating of cooking spray.*If you don’t have cooking spray, rub a little oil on your hands and give each meatball/patty a quick "hug" so it gets a thin film of oil on the surface.
- Cook them for about 12 minutes at 190°C on the air fryer setting.Check on them after 8 minutes – not all air fryers heat the same way.Depending on the type of air fryer you have, you may need to turn the patties/shake the basket of meatballs halfway through cooking.
- Serve your Greek meatballs with a good tzatziki, a crisp salad, pitta bread, flatbread or similar.
Tak…. Du skuffer aldrig 🙂
