Butter chicken with chicken mince – an easy take on a much-loved classic.
Butter chicken with chicken mince – or a kind of “million” butter chicken, if you like, a nod to millionbøf (the Danish dish of minced beef in gravy). Creamy comfort food at its best, with chicken mince, plenty of warm spices and a rich sauce of tomato, cream and, of course, butter. Very easy to make, ready in under 30 minutes and just right with a bowl of steaming hot rice and/or naan bread.
I make the dish with chicken mince, and it simply works so well. The mince is browned well in a saucepan before I add onion, garlic and fresh ginger. Then in go all the classic warm spices along with tomato purée, chopped tomatoes, cream and butter – exactly the flavours you associate with a good butter chicken.
I also add a little stock. Not much, just enough to give the sauce the right creamy consistency without it becoming too thick. And it is the sauce that makes this dish so incredibly good. It is rich, rounded and creamy, and the chicken mince soaks up plenty of flavour as it simmers. I genuinely love dishes made with chicken mince.
Think millionbøf meets butter chicken – just with Indian spices, chicken and the most luscious creamy tomato sauce. It may not be the most traditional way to make butter chicken, but my goodness, it tastes good.
My version is mild rather than hot, so it also makes a really good family-friendly dinner. If you would like a bit more heat, add hot chilli flakes or hot chilli powder along with the spices, or sprinkle them over when serving. Personally, I think a little extra chilli goes really well with the creamy sauce.
Serve your butter chicken with cooked basmati or jasmine rice and, if you like, fresh coriander on top. A warm naan on the side for mopping up the last of the sauce is certainly not a bad idea either.
This is the kind of dish that tastes like proper comfort food, yet is remarkably easy to make on a busy weeknight. Under 30 minutes from the moment you start until creamy, piping hot million butter chicken is on the table – that is hard to beat.

Hej Marie
Hej Julie
Dejligt at høre:)
Det er kun de ting der er antal på, der er med i kalorieberegningen:)
Så på denne hvor der f.eks. står forslag til servering, men ikke antal ud for ris osv – så er de ikke med:)
Warm wishes, Dianna
