Falkenberg Strandbad – A relaxed getaway with spa, good food and sea views

A short, easy drive from Helsingborg – and suddenly we were there.
Falkenberg Strandbad lay before us with its pale timber facades, swaying beach grass and views straight out over the sea. Jes and I felt the calm settle over us the moment we stepped into the airy lobby, bathed in soft light and with a warm, relaxed atmosphere.

We were greeted by smiling staff who made sure we quickly felt at home.
Our room was bright and modern, with large windows so we could enjoy the view of the wide beach and the little wooden jetty stretching out over the water – the perfect place to breathe all the way down into your belly and simply be.

It was just the two of us this time. No obligations, no plans – just calm, presence and pleasure.
We often bring our girls along, but this time it was just the two of us.

Retreat Club – A spa experience in sunshine and warmth

After breakfast the next day, we spent time in the hotel’s beautiful spa, Retreat Club.
The spa area is a dream – large lounge areas, warm pools, saunas and outdoor sun loungers perfectly placed for soaking up the sun.

We started in the extra-warm pool, where the water wrapped around the body like a snug, soothing duvet. Then we went out into the sunshine, ordered a cocktail each from the pool bar and enjoyed the spring that was slowly beginning to take hold.
It felt like a little Mediterranean holiday – but framed by the sea air and the calm Swedish pace.

The breakfast buffet – A perfect start to the day

Every morning we started the day with a really delicious breakfast buffet – and it wasn’t just the classic eggs, bacon and bread.
The buffet had everything you could wish for: freshly baked bread and rolls, cold cuts and spreads, cheese, yoghurt and fresh fruit – and there was also the option to put together your own sandwich or filled roll, which I really appreciated.

There was something cosy and homely about it – and at the same time a feeling of being pampered, sitting there in a dressing gown, enjoying both the food and the view at a leisurely pace.

Bar and Lounge – Evenings by the fire

We rounded off our evenings in the hotel’s bar and lounge – a relaxed, cosy world with a real fire in the hearth, comfortable armchairs and an impressive cocktail list.

We played a game of billiards, shared a cheese board with small, excellent cured sausages and enjoyed being in a room where people laughed, chatted and were simply present in the moment. The mood was festive, but in the pleasant way – no noise, yet full of life and joy.

A trip into Falkenberg town

One of the days we went into Falkenberg town, where we took a walk along Doktorspromenaden.
The path winds along a quiet river, crossed by small wooden bridges and surrounded by woodland and green spaces – perfect for a calm, relaxed stroll after a day of spa and gastronomy.

Dinner experiences: Sandy’s and Brasserie Famille

When you stay at Falkenberg Strandbad, there is fortunately just as much to look forward to in the evening as there is in the spa. Both of the hotel’s restaurants offer food experiences that strike a fine balance between quality and a relaxed atmosphere – perfect for a getaway without too much fuss.
👉 You can see photos and video from both restaurants further down the page.

Brasserie Famille – Warm bistro comfort

On the second evening we ate at Brasserie Famille, where the tone was more informal – but just as polished.
The room was filled with candlelight, soft armchairs and small groups enjoying themselves over wine and good dishes. A hum of conversation, laughter and clinking glasses formed the backdrop for an evening in true bistro spirit.

I started with grilled goat’s cheese served with beetroot, honey and crunchy hazelnuts – a simple but utterly perfect combination of sweetness, richness and crunch.
For my main I chose Coq au Vin, a classic French dish of tender pieces of chicken in a rich, creamy sauce with pearl onions and mushrooms. Jes had the Steak Frites – juicy, perfectly cooked and served with a sinful béarnaise and crisp chips.

For dessert we shared a Tarte Tatin – warm, caramelised apple tart with a scoop of homemade vanilla ice cream. A sweet, warm ending to a thoroughly successful dinner.

Sandy’s – A sensory evening at the Chef’s Table

On the first evening we had booked a table at Sandy’s, the hotel’s gourmet restaurant – and not just any table, but the Chef’s Table right at the heart of the restaurant.
It felt like being part of a quiet piece of theatre, where the chefs danced around one another, cooking with passion and lavishing care on every last little detail.

We had a tasting menu where each small dish was like a work of art – beautiful, elegant plates full of flavour and texture. With every course we were treated to a glass of wine, carefully chosen to bring out the flavours.
Being able to follow the work in the kitchen made it all even more alive and gave the experience a very special energy. The atmosphere was calm and cosy without ever feeling stiff.

Tættere på køkkenet kommer man ikke – Chef’s Table på Sandy’s er en oplevelse i sig selv. At følge med i madens tilblivelse, mens man nyder vin og små serveringer, giver en helt særlig stemning.
    • Location: Beautifully set by the sea, close to Helsingborg.

    • What we ate: Tasting menu at Sandy’s, three-course dinner at Brasserie Famille.

    • Highlights: Chef’s Table, spa in the sunshine, cocktails by the fire, generous breakfast buffet.

    • Price and value: The experiences fully match the price.

    • Atmosphere and service: Cosy, relaxed, personal and festive – the perfect getaway for two.
