Perfect brunede kartofler (Danish caramelised potatoes)

Perfect brunede kartofler (Danish caramelised potatoes), – light golden brown, glossy and full of flavour.
Caramelised potatoes taste wonderful, and they are simply a must on the Christmas table.
Caramelised potatoes are not just for Christmas, though; they are also excellent served with, for example, boiled hamburgerryg (Danish lightly smoked pork loin) – click here and glazed ham – click here, along with either creamed spinach – click here or creamed kale (grønlangkål). Lovely autumn classics.
These caramelised potatoes are made with small boiled, peeled potatoes, – which gives a far better result than the ones you buy in jars. In a pinch, jarred potatoes work fine too. But if you have the time, try freshly peeled potatoes, – it is well worth it.
If you use jarred potatoes, you also need to make sure they are completely dry, – and not straight from the fridge (if you have drained them in advance). Some jarred potatoes can be quite fragile, so take care when you add them to the pan.

Christmas food and caramelised potatoes
Caramelised potatoes, – small boiled potatoes with a thin coating of caramel, a fixture of the Danish Christmas table.
Caramelised potatoes make a great many people nervous, and what a shame, because they are not at all difficult to make.
Take the time it needs, make sure the caramel does not catch and burn, and let the potatoes caramelise until they are beautifully glossy. Perfect caramelised potatoes.

    • Hej Jytte

Har desværre ikke prøvet. Men min tanke er umiddelbart at de godt kan laves, og så lunes på panden – men altså, har ikke prøvet, så ved ikke hvordan de bliver 🙂

      Warm wishes, Dianna
