Mini croissants with smoked salmon and cream cheese – perfect as a starter or a snack.
These small, crisp mini croissants with smoked salmon and cream cheese are so good that they disappear from the platter before you can blink.
They are made with an easy puff pastry recipe that gives them just the right flaky, crisp bite – and they are filled with cream cheese, crisp lettuce, silky smoked salmon and slices of ripe avocado.
It is a snack that looks inviting and tastes of summer and a little indulgence – and it works for everything from brunch and tapas to welcome nibbles, summer parties, graduation celebrations and relaxed evenings with friends.
The croissants can easily be baked well ahead, but wait to fill them until just before serving – that way they keep their crispness.
Filling ideas – beyond salmon & cream cheese:
- Cream cheese, Serrano ham and rocket – a salty, slightly peppery combination
- Cream cheese, crisp bacon, tomato and avocado – a little BLT in croissant form
- Egg salad, chives and cress – perfect for brunch or the Easter table
- Chicken salad, spinach and pickled red onion – a classic with a bit of an edge
- Pesto, mozzarella and sun-dried tomatoes – vegetarian and full of flavour
- Garlic cream cheese, smoked mackerel and dill – lovely for summer and cold platters
