At Fajancen in Sønderho you are served the most delicious dishes, – for both lunch and dinner. The menu features several local specialities, and there is something for every taste. The restaurant radiates cosiness, warmth and a genuine sense of welcome, – and the staff make sure you feel at ease from the moment you walk through the door.
The dishes naturally change with the seasons, and there is also a children’s menu for the younger members of the family.
One of my firm recommendations is to order their lunch platter – the Sønderhoning Platte. It takes you through the season’s selection and delicious local specialities.
Another must-try when you are on Fanø is bakskuld. Bakskuld is salted, dried and smoked dab, fried in butter and served with Danish rye bread (rugbrød), lemon and remoulade (the Danish sweet-pickled kind). I won’t pretend I wasn’t deeply sceptical the first time I tried it, but I was genuinely surprised. It tastes really good, and the restaurants in town are very good at making it.
Next door to Fajancen there is an ice cream café that belongs to the restaurant, – we like to finish off there so the girls can have an ice cream.
