Græsk pita burger med græsk bøf - Opskrift på pita med græsk bøf

Greek pitta burger with Greek beef patty

The ultimate pitta for anyone who loves Greek food – a Greek-style beef patty, creamy tzatziki and Greek-marinated vegetables. The perfect choice if you, like me, love Greek cooking and its flavours. Full of flavour, juicy, crisp and completely irresistible.
The vegetables are marinated in a classic Greek salad dressing, and the patty is seasoned like Greek meatballs – a dish with real punch and plenty of substance.

Ingredients

Greek beef patties

  • 500 g minced beef
  • 80 g feta, crumbled
  • 1 handful flat-leaf parsley, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, grated or crushed
  • 1/2 chilli, deseeded and finely chopped
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp ground coriander
  • Salt and pepper
  • Oil for frying
  • 4 good-quality pitta breads

Marinated vegetables

  • 4 handfuls mixed salad leaves (such as a Napolitana mix) – or other salad leaves
  • 8 cherry tomatoes, sliced
  • 1 pepper, cut into strips – ideally 2 colours
  • 1 small red onion, sliced into rings
  • 2 spring onions, finely sliced
  • 1/4 cucumber, halved lengthways and sliced – deseeded if you like
  • 1 handful flat-leaf parsley, finely chopped
  • 50 ml olive oil
  • 1 clove garlic, grated or crushed
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tsp good dark balsamic vinegar
  • 1 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp honey
  • 1/2-1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • Salt and pepper

Tzatziki

  • 400 g Greek yogurt
  • 1 large cucumber
  • 100 g feta – optional
  • 2-3 cloves garlic
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1-2 tbsp lemon juice
  • Salt and pepper

Method

Tzatziki

  • Coarsely grate the cucumber and squeeze out as much liquid as possible.
Put the cucumber in a sieve, season with a little salt – roughly the amount you would add to the dressing anyway – and toss it with your hands. Leave the cucumber to drain for about 15 minutes, squeezing out more liquid a few times along the way.
  • Meanwhile, mix the ingredients for the dressing – stir the yogurt together with the crumbled feta, garlic, olive oil and lemon juice. Then fold in the cucumber and season the dressing with pepper and a little more salt if it needs it.
Leave the tzatziki in the fridge until ready to serve.

Marinated vegetables

  • Mix the ingredients for the marinade and season with salt and pepper.
  • Add the pepper, red onion, cucumber, spring onions and flat-leaf parsley to the marinade and toss well.
  • Toss the tomato slices in the marinade too – they go at the bottom of your pitta burger, so keep them slightly separate from the rest.
Just before serving, toss the salad leaves in the marinade as well – but not too early, or they will wilt too much.

Greek beef patties

  • Mix the ingredients for the patties, season with salt and pepper and stir well to combine.
  • Divide the mince into 4 equal pieces and shape them into patties.
  • Fry them in a little oil in a hot frying pan, or put them on the barbecue.
At home we prefer them pink in the middle – but cook them to your liking.
  • Meanwhile, warm the pitta breads in the oven.

Greek pitta burger

  • Cut the pitta breads open along one side and spread the bottom with tzatziki.
  • Top with a good handful of marinated vegetables – mostly salad leaves, as far as possible – and lay the tomato slices on top.
  • Put the patty in the pitta and top with the rest of the marinated vegetables and tzatziki, and sprinkle with feta if you like.

      Warm wishes, Dianna

Du skriver under tzatzikien, at fetaen smuldres i. Men du har altså ikke angivet, at der skulle feta i under ingredienserne. Kun i bøffen.

    • Hej Susanne

Det er hermed rettet, tak fordi du skrev det:)
Fetaen i dressingen er valgfri, men jeg synes det smager rigtig godt når det skal bruges til denne ret:)

      Rigtig god weekend:)

      Warm wishes, Dianna
