A seriously good pizza with Italian salsiccia sausage, mushrooms and onion – plus mozzarella and parmesan.
Big, bold flavours, gooey and satisfying – one of our new favourites.
Salsiccia is an Italian sausage – well seasoned and full of flavour, and we have become completely hooked on it at home. It is wonderful as a filling for chicken breasts, for example, in pasta dishes – and very much on pizza too.
It comes in different varieties, some with chilli, some with other spices – so check the packet and pick the one you prefer.
Top the pizza with freshly ground pepper and fresh basil: simple, good and thoroughly delicious.

- 8 button mushrooms, sliced
- 1 onion, sliced into rings
- Salt and pepper

Method
- Divide the dough into 4 and roll out into thin rounds about 30 cm in diameter.
- Spread the bases with pizza sauce and distribute the mozzarella over them.
- Squeeze the meat out of the sausage casings and dot it in small clumps over the bases, then arrange the sliced mushrooms and onion on top of the pizzas.
- Sprinkle with parmesan and season with salt and pepper.
- Bake the pizzas in the oven until crisp and golden, about 12-15 minutes at 250°C. Keep an eye on them – ovens vary.
- Finish each pizza with a little freshly ground pepper and, if you like, some chopped fresh basil before serving.
