A recipe for the best blackberry mojito, – made with fresh blackberries.
Blackberry mojito, – if you haven’t tried it yet, you should:) It tastes wonderful, – fresh and bright, and just look at that beautiful colour.
It is incredibly easy to mix a blackberry mojito together, – you don’t need blackberry syrup or anything like that, – just fresh blackberries that you muddle straight into the drink.
A lovely summer cocktail with a pleasing balance of tartness and sweetness, – and a freshness that is perfect for a warm summer’s day. But trust me, – it tastes just as good on a cold winter’s day 😉
Blackberry mojito
Ingredients
- 8 cl white rum 80 ml
- 100 g blackberries
- 1 lime, cut into wedges
- 4 tsp sugar (I prefer cane sugar)*
- mint leaves
- Soda water
- Ice cubes
Garnish – optional
- Mint
- Fresh blackberries
Method
- Put the lime wedges, the rinsed blackberries, sugar and rum in a shaker or a glass, and muddle everything well, – ideally with a muddler. If your blackberries are on the tart side, I recommend using 2 tbsp sugar.
- Add the mint leaves and press/bruise them lightly so they release their oils, just a couple of times with the muddler, – don’t crush them too much.
- Fill 2 glasses with ice, preferably crushed ice, – and divide the mixture between the glasses.Don’t strain the liquid. There is plenty of flavour in the lime wedges, the crushed blackberries and so on, – and it looks beautifully rustic.
- Stir well with a spoon so everything is thoroughly mixed with the ice, and top up your blackberry mojito with soda water.
- Garnish with fresh blackberries and a little mint, if you like.
