Crisp deep-fried plaice fillets – homemade breaded fish fillets simply taste best.
It is so easy to make them yourself, and the result is genuinely far better than many of the ones you can buy in the supermarket.
The bags of fish fillets in the shops usually contain fish so thin that there is more breading than fish.
Buy some good plaice fillets (or another flatfish) and make the best homemade fish fillets yourself.
Fish fillets with panko breadcrumbs
I always use panko breadcrumbs for my fish fillets. I think the coarse panko gives them a beautiful coating and a wonderfully crisp crunch.
I also always deep-fry them in plenty of neutral oil – at least 1 litre and preferably 2 – so they can float freely and get an even, golden crust.
I recently got myself a deep fryer (again), and it really is perfect for making fish fillets.
For the oil, I would recommend sunflower, grapeseed or rapeseed.
Crispy breaded plaice fillets (fiskefilet)

- 6-8 plaice fillets or other flatfish
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 200 ml plain flour
- 150 g panko breadcrumbs – or ordinary breadcrumbs
- Neutral oil, for frying
- Salt
Method
- Heat a frying pan with a generous amount of neutral oil.If you have a deep fryer, use that instead. The oil should be about 175°C when you fry the fish fillets.
- Pat the plaice fillets dry with kitchen paper and remove any stray bones or bits.If the plaice fillets are very large, cut them in 2.
- Mix the plain flour with a little fine salt and turn the plaice fillets in it.
- Then dip them in the beaten egg and finally coat them in the panko breadcrumbs.
- Fry the fish fillets until golden and crisp on both sides. Turn them once during frying.
- Let them drain on kitchen paper before serving as you like.
Hej. Du skriver, at du bruger mindst 1 l olie helst 2.
Mvh
