Puff pastry apple roses are as pretty to look at as they are easy to make. These little works of art take just 10 minutes to prepare and need only a few ingredients: a roll of puff pastry, a cinnamon butter filling and thin slices of apple.
The pastry is cut into strips, spread with the spiced butter and folded around the apple slices so that they look like small roses once baked.
They taste wonderful – simply serve them with a dusting of icing sugar, or treat yourself to a scoop of vanilla ice cream or some vanilla custard on the side.
For a lighter, fresher dessert, vanilla skyr is also a good choice alongside.
A simple but truly delicious sweet snack or dessert – just as good with your everyday coffee as it is for special occasions.
Apple and cinnamon in puff pastry
Apple and cinnamon is an evergreen combination, and here it gets extra crunch from the puff pastry. The warm, spicy cinnamon pairs beautifully with the slightly tart apples and the crisp, flaky pastry that melts in the mouth.
The result is a lovely balance of sweetness and sharpness that makes every bite of these apple roses a pleasure.
The soft cinnamon butter and the baked apple slices make this recipe an essential classic for when you want to serve something special without much effort.
Apple roses – Puff pastry apple roses
Ingredients
- 40 g softened butter
- 2 1/2 tbsp caster sugar
- 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
- 2 apples
- 1 roll ready-rolled puff pastry
- Butter, for greasing the tin
- Icing sugar
Method
- Beat the butter together with the sugar and cinnamon.
- Halve the apples, remove the cores and cut them into very thin slices. If they are too thick, the slices will crack when you roll the roses.
- Unroll the puff pastry and cut it into strips about 5 cm wide – cutting across the short side of the sheet.Depending on the size of the pastry sheet, you will get 6-7 strips.
- Spread the strips with the cinnamon butter and arrange the apple slices (rounded edge pointing up) along the top edge of each strip. See the video above the recipe if you like.
- Fold the bottom of the pastry up over the apples so that only the tops of the slices show – then roll the strips up into neat apple roses.
- Place the apple roses in a greased metal muffin tin and bake in a preheated conventional oven (top and bottom heat) at 185°C for about 40-45 minutes, or until golden and baked through.
- Remove them from the tin while they are still quite warm, so the sugar doesn’t set – otherwise they can be hard to release.
- Dust with icing sugar before serving if you like – best served warm.
Så lækker ♥️
Hej Anni
Tusind tak for de søde ord 🙂
Warm wishes, Dianna
Kan man lave dem i silikone form?
Hejsa
Warm wishes, Dianna
Mm… De smager bare så godt!! Tak for en dejlig opskrift.
Tror du, man kan fryse dem?
Hej Louise
Åhhh hvor er du sød at skrive det – tak 🙂
Jeg har ikke prøvet, men kan absolut ikke forestille mig, at de skulle tage skade af en tur i fryseren 🙂
Warm wishes, Dianna
