The restaurant at the hotel where we were staying. Truly beautiful, cosy surroundings – majestic and very romantic. The restaurant is made up of two “rooms”, each with its own style – simply gorgeous.
The food here is genuinely delicious. So much flavour, and beautifully presented plates. Their sofa seating is wonderfully comfortable – and you can round off the evening with one of their superb desserts or a cocktail.
We started with a couple of appetisers, and then placed our order. I love cheese, so I ordered a cheese plate as my starter, even though it was listed on the dessert menu.
Really lovely cheeses served with apple compote and bread. Jes ordered a parmesan tartlet with egg yolk, fennel and white port. For our mains, I had crisp-skinned perch with prawns wrapped in cabbage and hazelnut butter, while Jes had veal with leek, mushrooms and truffle sauce. It tasted absolutely wonderful.
There was no room for dessert, so we ended the evening with a chocolate martini and an espresso martini before heading on to the Moulin Rouge.
