On our last evening we went to Le Dome. The restaurant was fully booked, but we were lucky enough to get a table anyway.
A very authentic place with a really lovely atmosphere. Cosy little nooks, yet with room for quite a few people.
The menu is brimming with French specialities – snails, foie gras, bouillabaisse, sole meunière and more. There is something for every taste, and across a wide range of prices too. The service was quick and welcoming, with room for a bit of friendly banter as well. Jes and I shared a foie gras to start – the best foie gras I have tasted to date. And before anyone takes me to task for it, I should say I eat it very rarely. Everything in moderation.
For my main course I ordered their signature dish, sole meunière, and my goodness it was good. I love it. They bring the fish to the table to show you once it is cooked – and then fillet it for you, so you get a piece of fish entirely free of bones. It was served with mashed potato, which went wonderfully with it. An eye-opener when it comes to side dishes, because I would never have thought of that myself.
Jes ordered lobster with risotto, and he was every bit as delighted. For dessert we had a chocolate tart with caramel, and a French lemon tart with meringue.
