Baked oats are an easy and delicious way to make a satisfying, filling (breakfast) meal. They take very little time to put together, and they taste wonderful – almost like eating a slice of cake.
They are full of protein and fibre, and keep you full for a long time.
This quantity makes 2 slightly larger ramekins of about 250 ml, or 4 smaller ones.
If you don’t have small ovenproof dishes, you can also spoon the batter into muffin tins – that makes about 8.
Baked oats with apple and cinnamon are lovely topped with a little skyr (Icelandic-style thick yogurt) or Greek yogurt, some chopped nuts and fresh apple. It complements the flavours beautifully and makes the dish fresh and light.
Baked oats in the air fryer – Baked oats with apple and cinnamon in the air fryer
You can easily make baked oats in the air fryer – it is both quick and simple.
In my air fryer the oats need 10 minutes at 170°C, and then I let them rest for about 5-8 minutes outside the air fryer, which gives the perfect consistency.
Reheating baked oats
Baked oats reheat well, so if a portion doesn’t get eaten, simply put it in the fridge.
It reheats quickly and easily in the microwave, where it needs no more than about 30-45 seconds.
