Restaurant Maison in Copenhagen

A French bistro in a class of its own.

The interior is beautiful and truly something special. The colours are warm, and the whole place feels inviting and welcoming.

The atmosphere is lovely and relaxed – you can tell it is one of the “hip” spots in town.

There were families with children (ourselves included), groups of younger people in high spirits, older couples and friends out for a late dinner.

The atmosphere was wonderful – cosy, cheerful and warm.

So was the service – especially one of our waiters. The other seemed a little tired 😉

And the food: truly fantastic – and HUGE portions. So large, in fact, that even though we only ordered a few snacks as a starter, we couldn’t get through even half of it.

We started with rosé prawns and a few olives alongside a glass of wine.

The prawns come as a simple serving of prawns on ice with mayonnaise and lemon.

They tasted really delicious.

Then we ordered our main courses.

Jes ordered pigeon in puff pastry with foie gras and chanterelles – and I ordered rabbit with morels and mustard sauce.

The dishes were incredibly beautiful – especially the pigeon. It was simply stunning, and having it served was an experience in itself.

It was presented and carved at the table – breathtakingly beautiful food art.

My dish was served in a casserole pot – again such an inviting presentation and really delicious food.

Everything tasted superb – but the portions were, as mentioned earlier, really big.

On top of that we had also ordered chips and a salad, since they were listed as “sides”, so we assumed our dishes didn’t come with much in the way of accompaniments. But they certainly did 😉

So we had to give up halfway through – and what a shame, because it was so good.

For the children we ordered chips and fried fish. There was no children’s menu as such, but they put something together for them from the à la carte menu.

There was no skipping dessert, even though we were very full – it had to be tasted.

We ordered crêpes Suzette and profiteroles with vanilla ice cream.

Let me just say that these are the best crêpes I have tasted to date – it was absolutely delicious.

A thoroughly wonderful evening – lovely, beautiful surroundings, fantastic food and an experience in a class of its own.

Highly recommended!

Stemningen er smuk og afslappet, - man kan mærke at det er et af de “hippe” steder i byen.
