Fru Nimb’s menu is built on Danish lunch classics – but always with a twist that makes the dishes that bit more refined. There is something here for smørrebrød lovers, for those who fancy a warm dish, and for the children, who are treated to the same standard as the adults.
Snacks & Caviar
If you want to start lunch with a little extra, you can choose small snacks such as olives, salted almonds, slices of ibérico ham or fish salad. For more luxurious moments, Fru Nimb also offers a selection of caviar – served with brioche, mayonnaise, lemon and chives. There are several varieties to choose from, including Nimb’s own “Gold Selection” (from DKK 325) and Beluga (up to DKK 1,195 for 125 g).
Smørrebrød – cold classics
The heart of the menu is, of course, the smørrebrød. The selection is wide, and prices typically range from DKK 115–225.
Fish & shellfish: prawn salad with mayo, dill and lemon; fjord shrimps on butter-fried bread; smoked salmon with egg and horseradish.
Meat & vegetables: roast beef with pickles and remoulade (the Danish sweet-pickled kind, not French rémoulade); tartare with capers and egg yolk; potato smørrebrød topped with caviar.
All beautifully presented and tasting exactly as smørrebrød should – but with extra attention to the quality of the ingredients.
The warm dishes – classic hot plates
Fru Nimb also has a selection of warm lunch dishes that make the menu more filling. Favourites include fried plaice fillets with homemade remoulade and lemon, classic Danish meatballs (frikadeller) with pickles, and veal fricassée with vegetables. Prices typically run from DKK 155–195.
Fru Nimb’s lunch platter & signature plate
If you want to try a little of everything, there is Fru Nimb’s lunch platter at DKK 345 – a spread of several classic elements, beautifully served in two courses. There is also “Fru Nimb’s Herring Plate” at DKK 325, with three kinds of herring and all the trimmings, Danish rye bread (rugbrød) and butter.
Spring inspiration & seasonal dishes
The menu also features changing seasonal dishes – for example fillet of lemon sole with white asparagus, new potatoes, parsley sauce and truffle. Dishes like these underline that Fru Nimb is not only about smørrebrød, but is also a modern lunch kitchen where the season’s produce takes the lead.
Children’s menu
The children’s menu is a chapter of its own: three courses with snacks, a main (options such as pasta bolognese, fish fillet or nuggets) and dessert. Price DKK 165. It is one of the best children’s menus we have come across – well thought out and attractively presented, so the children feel taken seriously.
