Cooking that goes well beyond the ordinary.
Dishes rooted in French and Danish cuisine – full of flavour and incredibly beautiful.
From the moment we step into the restaurant, we are met by a warm and cosy atmosphere.
The interior is so beautiful – there is something quite fairytale-like about the whole room.
We sat at table 12 – a wonderful spot when you have the children with you. A round table with a corner sofa and chairs around it.
The staff are smiling and very welcoming – and so kind and attentive towards the children too.
There are no airs and graces here – just a lovely, relaxed atmosphere in the most beautiful surroundings.
And the food – in a class of its own. My mouth waters just thinking about it.
We started with a selection of snacks and a glass of bubbles.
Beef tartare with caviar, a choux bun with crab and a crisp cordon bleu with Comté. Incredibly delicious – and for me a lovely way to begin the dinner.
Then we ordered main courses – the high point of the evening’s menu.
Jes ordered the Dolphin – a piece of turbot in puff pastry with black lobster and bisque.
WOW! What a beautiful dish.
And it tasted absolutely fantastic – I was allowed a taste 🙂
I ordered chicken breast with morels, pommes purée and vin jaune sauce. In came the most beautiful plate – chicken breast wrapped in a morel farce, on a bed of potato purée and with the most incredible sauce.
It tasted completely fantastic, and the chicken was so tender and juicy.
We asked the waiter whether there was a children’s menu – and in fact there always is. It varies from day to day – and that day it was steak or fried fish.
Both girls went for the fried fish with chips – really delicious too.
For dessert we couldn’t pass up their cheese trolley – I do love cheese.
Here we chose 3 cheeses with accompaniments.
It tasted so good, and I love being able to pick my own favourite cheeses.
We rounded off the evening with a cocktail in Nyhavn – a truly wonderful evening.
A huge recommendation for Restaurant Salon – it is well worth a visit.
Next time I will, without a doubt, be having the Dolphin myself – it is a work of art in its own right.
