Francophile on Stengade – a restaurant we return to again and again.
You can always count on truly delicious food in the best bistro style when you visit Francophile.
I love the place – the interior is warm and cosy, and the atmosphere relaxed and authentic.

With a view of the little square and the harbour, you are seated in cosy, welcoming surroundings.
The menu changes with the seasons, and you will always find 3 starters, 3 main courses and 3 desserts to choose from.
More often than not there is a chèvre chaud among the starters – I love it. There is usually also a charcuterie board – really lovely.
In summer they tend to have a dish they call “the happy pig” – truly wonderful and full of flavour.
There is no children’s menu, but they are always incredibly kind about conjuring something up for the youngest members of the family if they are not eating from the adult menu.
The service is always first-rate – so friendly, welcoming and competent. If you are lucky enough to come on an evening when the owner, Bo, is in, you can expect plenty of stories from the French kitchen.
We have only been there once when he was in – but what a wonderful experience. The restaurant was full and they were extremely busy, yet he still took the time to tell us about the food and the story behind it. Such a warm and genial person.
Francophile is always worth a visit.
