The facilities and villas are superb and well maintained, even if they may not look quite as new as at certain other resorts. That slight sign of wear counts for nothing against the overall experience, which is really about comfort, service and atmosphere. With direct access to the beach or a private pool, it is easy to enjoy the natural beauty around you, whether you are inside your villa or out.

During our stay we lived in a Sunset Beach Villa with a private pool, which quickly proved to be the perfect combination of luxury and privacy. Located on the best side of the island, where the beaches are wider and the sand softer, we had direct access to some of the most beautiful spots on the island. Although the villa is close to the beach, it is set slightly back, which creates a calm, private atmosphere where we could enjoy the peace to the full.

The villa is spacious and elegantly furnished, with large glass doors that invite the light in and connect the indoor and outdoor areas in a natural way. We particularly enjoyed the terrace, where we started the day with a cup of coffee and ended it with a drink at sunset. The private pool was ideal for a relaxing dip, and the sun loungers on the terrace made it easy to spend many unhurried hours simply taking in the beautiful surroundings.

Inside the villa, every detail has been considered. The large bed is comfortable, and the fine materials create an atmosphere of understated luxury. The villa’s position away from the busiest parts of the resort ensures a relaxed stay, where we could retreat and feel completely secluded from the rest of the island.

One of the most impressive features of the villa is the outdoor bathroom, beautifully appointed with a rain shower and a bathtub surrounded by lush greenery. Bathing under the open sky adds a special dimension of luxury, and the design of the bathroom underlines that closeness to nature without compromising on comfort.

This elegant restaurant serves the best of Italian gastronomy with a particular focus on homemade pasta dishes that genuinely stand out. Every dish is prepared with care and an eye for detail, making each meal a memorable experience.

The menu at Gusto is varied, but it is the delicious, freshly made pasta that really impresses. Whether you choose classic spaghetti, filled ravioli or a creamy risotto, you can be sure the food is made with fresh ingredients and Italian devotion. The portions are well balanced and served with a simple yet elegant presentation that underlines the restaurant’s focus on quality over quantity.

Fuego – Grilled Food on the Beach, Full of Flavour

Fuego at Baglioni Resort offers an authentic grill experience right on the beach, where you can enjoy freshly cooked food under the open sky. The mood is informal, and you feel the calm the moment you settle in with your feet in the sand and the sound of the waves in the background. Fuego is known for its wonderful grilled food, with fresh produce cooked directly over an open flame for an intense, authentic flavour.

The menu offers a wide choice of grilled dishes, including freshly caught fish, juicy steaks and marinated vegetables. Each dish is prepared with a combination of local Maldivian and Asian flavours, which makes the meal both exciting and delicious. The smoky notes from the grill pair beautifully with the fresh ingredients, and the presentation is simple yet elegant – exactly as a good grill dinner should be.

During our visit, Jes had a particularly amusing encounter with an extremely hot chilli from the grill. Even though he knows they are fiery, he cannot resist trying them, and of course it caused a great deal of laughter around the table. It only underlines the cosy, relaxed atmosphere Fuego offers, where it is easy to feel at home and have fun over the food.
