40gsoftened butter
2 1/2tbspcaster sugar
1tbspground cinnamon
2apples
1rollready-rolled puff pastry
Butter, for greasing the tin
Icing sugar
Instructions
Beat the butter together with the sugar and cinnamon.
Halve the apples, remove the cores and cut them into very thin slices. If they are too thick, the slices will crack when you roll the roses.
Unroll the puff pastry and cut it into strips about 5 cm wide - cutting across the short side of the sheet.Depending on the size of the pastry sheet, you will get 6-7 strips.
Spread the strips with the cinnamon butter and arrange the apple slices (rounded edge pointing up) along the top edge of each strip. See the video above the recipe if you like.
Fold the bottom of the pastry up over the apples so that only the tops of the slices show - then roll the strips up into neat apple roses.
Place the apple roses in a greased metal muffin tin and bake in a preheated conventional oven (top and bottom heat) at 185°C for about 40-45 minutes, or until golden and baked through.
Remove them from the tin while they are still quite warm, so the sugar doesn't set - otherwise they can be hard to release.
Dust with icing sugar before serving if you like - best served warm.
