Ingredients
1baguette or 1/2 white loaf, preferably a day old or on the dry side
2-3tbspolive oil
Herbs, spices and salt
Instructions
Cut the bread into cubes of the size you want – about 1 1/2 x 1 1/2 cm.
Toss the bread with the oil, season with salt and the herbs and spices you like, and mix well so every cube is coated.I usually use dried parsley and garlic powder, perhaps a pinch of cayenne or similar. It depends a little on what the croutons are going to be served with.
Tip the bread into your air fryer basket and cook for about 10-14 minutes at 180°C. Shake the basket once during cooking.Check after 8 minutes to see how they look – air fryers vary a great deal in how fiercely they heat, and the time naturally also depends on the size of the croutons.
Tip the croutons out onto a sheet of baking paper and let them cool before scattering them over your soup or salad – or pack them into an airtight container or bag.The croutons stay crisp and tasty for several days in an airtight container.
